About Me

I am second-year PhD candidate at the Jagiellonian University, based in Kraków, Poland. The program is led jointly with Ideas-NCBR, supervised by Tomasz Trzciński. I also work with Stanisław Jastrzębski.

Bio

Mateusz Pyla is pursuing his PhD at the Jagiellonian University in Kraków, supervised by Tomasz Trzciński.

Previously he graduated from Master IASD at the Dauphine Université in Paris (part of Université PSL) and from Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of Edinburgh. For both degrees he received excellent grades, being awarded the scholarships on the way.

He completed couple of industrial trainees, such as Junior Quant Analyst at Credit Suisse, Machine Learning Intern at TCL Research Europe, SDE Intern at Amazon and Tester internship at International Paper. He completed summer internship project at the UoE, tutored couple of courses and was the MathPals chairman.

His main interests are focused on probabilistic approaches in machine learning, recently within continual learning. He also loves optimization and theoretic foundations of AI. He seeks at the possible intersection of topology and geometry with ML.
